The Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, reviewed the development works of the area under the Patiala Urban Improvement Trust today. Megh Chand Shermajra, chairman of the Patiala Urban Improvement Trust, was also present with him on this occasion.
The meeting took place at the office of the City Improvement Trust. Balbir Singh announced that the residents of SST Nagar and Narendra Enclave will soon have their problems resolved, and he has taken immediate action to provide all basic facilities to the residents of Itho. He stated that the trust colonies’ residents will soon overcome their challenges in obtaining water and sewage connections, as well as in maintaining roads, streets, street lights, and parks. He said that although these colonies were built in 1973, due to the previous governments not paying attention to their development, they have lagged behind in terms of development, which will now be developed rapidly.
Dr. Balbir Singh stated that the Urban Improvement Trust is drawing a plan for the supply of canal water in the colonies. He announced the immediate repair and construction of the roads following the end of the rainy season. He instructed them to appoint a nodal officer to address the problems of the Nagar Reform Trust’s colonies’ residents, and requested the issuance of a helpline number for their convenience to follow up on their complaints.
On this occasion, the cabinet minister, talking to the residents of the colonies, said that to solve their problems, a meeting with the local government department and other related departments will be held on Monday to schedule the work to be done in the colonies, and the responsibilities of the departments will also be decided. He stated that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is dedicated to ensuring every individual has access to basic facilities and is working tirelessly to achieve this goal. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Navreet Kaur Sekhon, Jagtar Singh, Colonel JV Singh, and Harpreet Singh Sandhu were also present in the meeting.
