JALANDHAR, August 30, 2025 – As Punjab grapples with the impact of a severe monsoon, the State Flood Control Room has become a critical hub for emergency response, successfully addressing over 250 distress calls from affected citizens across the region. Operating around the clock, the control room is ensuring that issues are resolved on a priority basis through seamless coordination with district-level administrations.
The relentless rains have led to significant flooding in numerous districts, with Gurdaspur, Firozpur, Amritsar, Mansa, Bathinda, Patiala, Fazilka, Jalandhar, and Kapurthala reported as the most severely affected areas. The calls pouring into the control room range from requests for rescue from inundated areas to pleas for essential supplies and medical assistance.
The effective functioning of the control room highlights a commendable inter-departmental effort. Pictured on duty managing the crisis are officials from various government departments, including Anil Kumar, Raminder Pal Singh, and Dalip from the Education Department, working alongside Ranjit Singh Rawat from the Directorate of Land Records. Their dedicated presence showcases the administration’s unified approach to tackling the natural disaster.
”Our primary goal is to ensure that no call for help goes unanswered,” stated an official at the center. “We log every piece of information and immediately relay it to the concerned city administration and on-ground teams for swift action.”
