An additional district magistrate issued an order regarding a political meeting or rally on private property.

In the exercise of her powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (Act No. 2 of 1974),

Additional District Magistrate Madam Kanchan has directed the owner or manager of any private property to any political party, candidate, or public Returning Officer-13 Patiala.

Alternatively, the Assistant Returning Officer Patiala has issued directives prohibiting the holding of any political meeting or rally on his private property without prior approval.

The order states that the implementation of the electoral process is in preparation for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. To adhere to the Election Commission’s directives, the owner or manager of a private property hosting a political meeting or rally in Lok Sabha Constituency 13 Patiala, without the approval of the Returning Officer 13 Patiala or the Assistant Returning Officer Patiala, will not permit access to their personal property.

An owner or manager of a private property may make a conditional booking for holding a political meeting or rally, provided that he obtains the approval of the competent authority before the meeting or rally commences. These orders will remain in force from April 27, 2024, to June 6, 2024.
