Kultar Singh Sandhwan-Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker expressed sympathy for the injured farmers.

Patiala, February 15: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan has termed the inhumane torture of farmers protesting for their democratic demands and oppression against food donors a crime against the country. Speaker Sandhavan had arrived today to check the mood of the farmers admitted for treatment at the Government Rajindra Hospital; before that, he also inquired about the condition of the farmers at the Civil Hospital Rajpura. He also got feedback about the treatment of farmers in government hospitals, on which he expressed satisfaction. MLA Neena Mittal, Gurlal Ghanour, Kulwant Singh Pandori, and Deputy Commissioner Shaukat Ahmed Pari were also present with him on this occasion.

Speaking informally with the media on this occasion, Speaker Sandhawan said that during this peaceful protest, the injured farmers, including journalists and other persons, were being treated free of charge on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He said that the Chief Minister has also made it clear that the demands of the farmers are absolutely reasonable, and the centre should listen to them with a clear heart and resolve them immediately. The central and Haryana governments should also immediately stop the oppression of the farmers in Punjab. Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that blocking roads does not come under any law, and while nails and sharp arrows are not even on the borders of the country, oppression of farmers and food donors is a crime against the country because the country means farmers.

Speaker Sandhavan said that the farmer made a valuable contribution in the struggle for the freedom of the country, and his children are guarding the country’s borders and the farmer is filling the country’s food reserves. He said that bullets and shells are fired on enemies, but by doing this on the farmers, the BJP-led Central and Haryana governments are inhumanely torturing the farmers. Kultar Singh Sandhwan, referring to the words of the late Ram Manohar Lohia, ‘If the roads are calm, then the parliament will be uncontrollable’, said that the BJP government is protecting those people, whose narcotics were found in tonnes from the port.

Taking the Haryana government by the hand, he said that democracy is being killed by oppressing the farmers who are going to Delhi in a peaceful manner, for which the BJP will have to bear the consequences, and the people will surely give their answer in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He said that the farmers’ fight is the country’s fight, and Punjabis have even climbed the gallows for the country. The speaker said that by ignoring the 65 percent of farmers in the country’s agriculture sector, which provides the highest employment, the central government, acting on the cues of a few corporate houses, is refusing to accept the earlier demands. He said that the culprits of the Lakhimpur Khiri incident should be given severe punishment, and ointment should be applied to the wounds of the farmers.

Meanwhile, SDM of Rajpura. Jasleen Kaur Bhullar, Director, Principal, Dr. Medical College. Dr. Rajan Singla, Medical Superintendent. Harnam Singh Rekhi, Dr. Vinod Dangwal, Dr. Deepali, Harshpal Rahul, Honey Luthra, and other dignitaries were also present.*Photo Caption: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan knows the condition of farmers at Rajindra Hospital. HEALTH MINISTER DR. BALBIR SINGH VISITS HEALTH FACILITIES TO KNOW THE WELLBEING OF FARMERS AND JOURNALISTS INJURED DURING HARYANA POLICE ACTION
DR. BALBIR SINGH CONDEMNS ROLE OF HARYANA GOVERNMENT, TERMS IT UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND ILLEGAL
CHANDIGARH/MOHALI/PATIALA, February 14:
Standing firmly with the farmers protesting for their legitimate demands, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government will bear all the cost of treatment expenses to be incurred on injured persons during the ongoing farmers’ protest, said Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh here on Wednesday.

The Health Minister was on a whirlwind tour of different government health facilities near the Haryana border to know the wellbeing of farmers, journalists, and police personnel injured during the police action by the Haryana government to deter farmers from entering the state. He visited Dr. B. R. Ambedkar State Institute for Medical Sciences (AIMS) in Mohali, CHC Banur, Civil Hospital Rajpura, and Rajindra Hospital Patiala. MLAs Neena Mittal and Gurlal Ghanour were also present at Rajpura.
Dr. Balbir Singh said that keeping in view the safety of protesting farmers, all the hospitals adjoining the Haryana border have been put on high alert, and emergency services are being provided 24×7. He said that there is no shortage of doctors in the government health facilities, and doctors have been asked to stay put at the hospitals, while the deployment of ambulances has also intensified along the border. He also asked the local health authorities to keep 14 ambulances on standby with the requisite staff and medicines in case of an emergency.
He said that being the nearest to the Shambu Border, at least 40 injured persons were admitted to the Civil Hospital in Rajpura, of which two have sustained serious head injuries and are undergoing treatment. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government will ensure free medical aid to the persons injured during the farmers’ protest, he reiterated.
While condemning the Haryana government for the unprovoked police action against protesting farmers, Dr. Balbir Singh said that the Haryana government has no right to stop farmers who were peacefully heading to Delhi to hold protests. “The national highway is property of the nation, and farmers were just passing through Haryana’s jurisdiction to reach Delhi,” he said, while terming the role of the Haryana government as unconstitutional and illegal. He also urged the BJP-led Haryana government to let the farmers reach the national capital to peacefully raise their demands.
Meanwhile, during his visit to AIMS Mohali, the Health Minister took stock of the medical services being provided in emergency care and directed the officials to further strengthen the emergency services so that no one has to be referred to PGI, or Government Medical College-32, for further care.

Lecture on proficient communication abilities.

Today, I conducted a lecture on “proficient communication abilities and the significance of mass media in society” at the Gulzar Institute campus. I engaged with numerous students studying mass communication. I have addressed numerous inquiries, offering them perceptive responses and fostering additional dialogue. A comprehensive analysis of the responsibilities of journalists and the significance of impartial journalism in fostering a transparent society. Throughout the session, we also deliberated on the influence of social media on communication and its transformative effect on the dissemination of information. In addition, we examined the ethical obligations of journalists to deliver precise and impartial news to uphold the public’s confidence in the media.

Furthermore, we will be having a group discussion on strategies for generating revenue and crafting compelling content. In addition, we explored the difficulties encountered by journalists in the digital era, including the proliferation of misinformation and the necessity of verifying facts. In addition, we investigated novel methods for journalists to adjust to these difficulties, such as employing data journalism and involving audiences through interactive storytelling strategies.

During the group discussion, students actively interacted with one another on the subjects and ultimately agreed that cooperation and alliances across different platforms are crucial for the long-term viability of journalism in the digital age. In addition, we deliberated about the significance of ethical journalism and the imperative for journalists to adhere to professional norms, particularly in relation to delicate subjects or contentious matters. Collectively, the conversation underscored the dynamic character of journalism and the imperative of ongoing education and adjustment to adequately fulfil the public’s entitlement to trustworthy information.

The significance of the five W’s in journalism pertains to the essential inquiries that journalists must address in their reporting: namely, who, what, when, where, and why. These inquiries facilitate the acquisition of a thorough comprehension of a narrative and guarantee the inclusion of all pertinent details. By attending to these facets, journalists may provide readers with a comprehensive and precise depiction of events, empowering them to make well-informed choices. Furthermore, the five W’s act as a fundamental concept for journalists to uphold objectivity and impartiality in their reporting, as they priorities the presentation of factual information rather than personal viewpoints.
